The Last District Attorney Debate

UCSF is co-hosting the final non-partisan district attorney debate of this election season
-

The Science Policy Group at UCSF is co-hosting the final non-partisan district attorney debate of this election season with the Philip R. Lee Institute for Health Policy Studies and the Do No Harm Coalition on October 21st, 6-8pm, in Byers Auditorium, Genentech Hall (UCSF Mission Bay, RSVP here).

We’re excited to host this event as this is the first open race for district attorney in over 100 years in San Francisco! This race and the candidates have been garnering attention from news outlets like the New York Times, the SF Examiner, the Huffington Post, LA Times, and even Teen Vogue

Because it's the first competitive race in 110 years, the candidates are tackling issues like mass incarceration, mental health, police accountability, homelessness, and immigration (in addition to more "traditional" issues district attorneys discuss).  These issues affect us not only as residents of San Francisco, but also as part of a community that believes in promoting research-driven policy, healthcare, and education.

We hope you’ll join us for this debate October 21st, 6-8 PM (please RSVP here as we are providing dinner). We also would like to invite you to submit questions for the candidates here. As scientists, educators, healthcare workers and staff, your critical perspective is essential for informing and challenging policymakers.

This event will be moderated by Dr. Brie Williams, MD, MS, Director of the Criminal Justice & Health Program at UCSF.  It will be an exciting debate! We will have on-site voter registration (this will be the last day to register) and we will provide light dinner!  Here is the link to RSVP for tickets. The event is free and open to the public so please bring your friends, family, neighbors, etc.

Thank you for your engagement and for being informed voters. We look forward to seeing you there!

             Sincerely,

Dr. Brindis and Elina Kostyanovskaya (on behalf of the Philip R. Lee Institute for Health Policy Studies and The Science Policy Group at UCSF ([email protected]), respectively)
