Alana Pfeffinger is the Project Coordinator for the UCSF Champion Provider Fellowship, where she helps to facilitate trainings and connectivity between healthcare providers, local health departments and community based organizations to catalyze policy, systems and environmental change strategies related to obesity prevention in their communities. She also serves as a Research Analyst to Dr. Alicia Fernandez supporting her research related to health and health care disparities, with a particular focus on diabetes, Latino health and language barriers.

Prior to the Champion Provider Fellowship, Alana spent time in Los Angeles County as the Program Manager for the LA Watts Summer Games, working with schools and city and county officials to develop quality programming for youth participants. While pursuing her master’s degree, she interned with the LA County Department of Public Health, Maternal, Child and Adolescent Health Programs Division to assess the nutrition and physical activity environments in child care centers in South Los Angeles. Alana received her undergraduate degree from the University of California, Los Angeles with a major in psychology and minor in Spanish. She completed her Master of Public Health from the University of Southern California, Keck School of Medicine with a concentration in health education and promotion. She is a member of the Delta Omega Honor Society in Public Health.
