The Herbert W. Nickens Award recognizes exceptional commitment to cultural diversity in medicine. The award will honor an individual or representative of an organization who has demonstrated exceptional commitment to cultural diversity in medicine or to improving minority health.

UCSF Launches New Benioff Homelessness and Housing Initiative

The first-of-its-kind initiative, which will be part of the CVP, will convene experts from various fields to conduct rigorous academic research on homelessness and housing issues, identify evidence-based solutions and train the next generation of homelessness researchers. The initiative will complement and integrate research being conducted by faculty and researchers across the university.

Chancellor's 2018 State of the University Address

On Oct. 30, Chancellor Sam Hawgood, MBBS, will deliver his fifth State of the University address, with the theme “Commitment to the Community.”

The address, from noon to 1 p.m., will be presented live in Cole Hall on the Parnassus campus and from UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospital Oakland. It will be live streamed here and simulcast at Byers Hall in Genentech Hall at Mission Bay, Herbst Hall at Mount Zion as well as in Fresno.
