Sonthonax “Sonny” Vernard is a Project Coordinator at the Center for Vulnerable Populations (CVP) supporting the SF State/UCSF Building Infrastructure Leading to Diversity (BUILD) program which aims to enhance diversity in the biomedical research workforce. He is a public health professional with over 10 years of experience.

Sonny has a bachelor’s in accounting and economics from Temple University and Masters of Public Health (MPH) and Public Policy (MPP) from UC Berkeley. He’s passionate about increasing diversity in health professions and works closely with undergraduate students to help them identify their authentic health career. Prior to CVP, he worked at the UC Berkeley School of Public Health where he managed the Health Careers Opportunity Program (HCOP) and mentored first-generation and low-income college students.
