Pamela Olsen, MS

Pamela Olsen is a Research Project Director and qualitative interviewer. She has a master’s degree in Gerontology from San Francisco State University and started at UCSF working with Dr. Kushel on her longitudinal research of older people experiencing homelessness in Oakland, California (HOPE HOME) in 2013. Before joining UCSF, she worked for 13 years as a criminal defense and legal investigator in California and Nevada, including on post-conviction mitigation for those sentenced to death. She has also been an ombudsperson for individuals in assisted living facilities in San Francisco. Pamela’s work centers on issues of homelessness, poverty, and how age and disability intersect with and exacerbate the structural inequities that exist around race and gender.
