Nancy Wu, MS

Clinical Reserach Coordinator

Nancy Wu is a research coordinator with the Division of Hospital Medicine at Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital. She works with Dr. Anil Makam and Dr. Oanh Nguyen to understand the palliative care needs of hospitalized older adults in long-term acute care hospitals and to reduce the risk of readmission of patients hospitalized for heart attacks or congestive heart failure by identifying the social support they may need after discharge. She is interested and has experience in social support interventions to meet patient needs, leveraging digital platforms to address health care disparities, and improving access to surgical services in global health.

Previously, she worked as a protocol project manager for the UCSF Eureka Research Platform, a web and mobile-based application for clinical research studies, and led the design, development, and operations of technically complex studies on the digital platform. She also trained with the Center for Global Surgical Studies during her time as a master’s student to identify trauma audit filters appropriate for regional referral hospitals to strengthen the quality of trauma care in Cameroon.

She graduated from the University of California, San Diego with a bachelor’s in Human Biology and from the University of California, San Francisco with a master’s in Global Health Sciences.
