Ivan Smith, AA

Research Analyst, Benioff Homelessness and Housing Initiative

Ivan recently relocated to Oakland from Los Angeles, where he was born and raised. He holds an AA in Behavioral Sciences from El Camino College and is currently pursuing a BA in developmental psychology. Before accepting his role with The Benioff Homelessness and Housing Initiative at the Center for Vulnerable Populations, Ivan worked as a Health Education Associate at Children's Hospital Los Angeles Division of Adolescent Young Adult Medicine (DAYAM). There he facilitated evidence-based interventions developed to support LGBTQ youth of color living with HIV. He then served as Research Coordinator supporting studies that focus on justice-involved youth around Los Angeles County. Ivan went on to co-create DAYAM's first Black-specific support program dedicated to connecting Black Queer Youth to mental and emotional health services.

In his spare time, Ivan is involved in creative endeavors which range from photo editing, modeling, and UX/UI design.
