Alma Yates, MSW

Education Program Manager

Alma Yates is the Center for Vulnerable Populations (CVP) Program Manager and the Benioff Homelessness and Housing Initiative Education Program Manager.

Alma graduated from the Columbia University School of Social Work, where she specialized in Social Enterprise Administration, International Social Welfare and Services for Immigrants and Refugees. She completed her undergraduate degree in Anthropology at Santa Clara University. Prior to starting her graduate studies at Columbia University, she worked at Stanford University and the AIDS Research Institute at UCSF. Alma is a member of the CVP Executive Committee.

Alma was born and raised in Bosnia and Herzegovina. She is a former refugee who relocated to the US following the Bosnian War. She is an avid traveler and some of her favorite destinations are East Africa, Southeast Asia and Australia.
