George Matta, BA
George Matta, is joining DGIM as a research analyst working with Neda Ratanawongsa on the effects of electronic health records (EHRs) on health communication and clinician/staff stress. George graduated from UC Berkeley with a focus on Public Health and has spent the last year working with Community Oriented Correctional Health Services (COCHS) on a Pew-funded study about healthcare services across county jails and prisons to assess disparities in quality of care. He spent this summer working with Sutter Health EastBay Medical Foundation as a summer healthcare intern helping in LEAN efforts in ambulatory clinics. Before college, he received the "Joy Award" as an AmeriCorps Jumpstart early childhood educator in Oakland, and so he doesn't seem to mind all the photos of my children around the office. He is fluent in Arabic and proficient in Spanish, and he is an active social media reviewer of food, the arts, and more (find him on Yelp).
