Nov 10, 2015 CVP Associate Faculty Christina Mangurian, MD recently had her research featured on the UCSF News website, Patients With Severe Mental Illness Rarely Tested for Diabetes, Despite High Risk, Study Shows.
From the article: Individuals with severe mental illness (SMI) are two to three times more likely to have type 2 diabetes than the general population.
 


 
Nov 25, 2015 CVP Faculty member Hilary Seligman's Op-Ed piece, "Screening children for hunger is only the first step" was recently in the Sacramento Bee.
From the article - Driven by concerns about food insecurity in the United States, the academy is recommending that pediatricians screen all children for hunger by asking caregivers to respond to the following two statements: “Within the past 12 months, we worried whether our food would run out before we got money to buy more,” and “Within the past 12 months, the food we bought just didn’t last and we didn’t have money to get more.”
