|Jun 05, 2012||
The Center for Vulnerable Populations in collaboration with San Francisco based community youth organization, Youth Speaks is working to bring forward the very talented voices of minority youth in CA to raise awareness and instigate social action regarding the environmental and socioeconomic inequities that drive the diabetes epidemic and disproportionately affect these youth, their families and communities. The campaign will feature short spoken-word (poetry) video PSAs, school assembly productions and workshops across a number of SF Bay Area public high schools, as well as an on-line competition and digital mapping tool to encourage broad viewing and participation.
This event will include live performances by youth poets as well as first screenings of the spoken word PSAs and a panel discussion regarding tapping into youth voices in the fight against the diabetes epidemic and other public health challenges.
